Lions Club of West Kowloon "Caring Lion" Youth Vision Care Project According to data, for every 100 children who are screened, 16% of them have vision problems without the parents or the school knowing. 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. The first step in prevention is to raise awareness. The second step is early detection through vision screening. Lions Club of West Kowloon partners with professional ophthalmologists, schools & community leaders and the District 303 Vision Service Teams to screen gradeschoolers & teenagers to identify those at risk for vision loss. Early identification leads to timely referral, professional treatment, and improved or restored sight. Follow-up after vision screening: We will provide appropriate follow-up for vision identified cases with the grassroots family teenagers, and provide free professional ophthalmologist/optometrist’s full vision exam, as well as providing spectacles to needy grassroots students free of charge, to strive for our goal of reaching out to communities to save sight.
